Eagles announce seven players inactive for Week 5 matchup with Jaguars
Philadelphia listed Jonathan Greenard, Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith, Drew Kendall, Marcus Epps and Hollywood Brown among the inactives for their game against Jacksonville.
Philadelphia announced the players who will be unavailable for their Week 5 contest against Jacksonville. The inactives include defensive end Jonathan Greenard, running back Saquon Barkley, wide receiver DeVonta Smith, center Drew Kendall, safety Marcus Epps and wide receiver Hollywood Brown.
Greenard, who missed practice all week with an ankle injury, participated in a pre-game workout but remained on the sidelines. He has appeared in only two of the Eagles’ five games this season. The team will rely on Jalyx Hunt, Nolan Smith, Arnold Ebiketie and A.J. Epenesa to fill the edge-defender roles.
With Barkley out, the Eagles will have three running backs active: Will Shipley, Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele. The receiving corps will consist of Dontayvion Wicks, Darius Cooper, Makai Lemon, Elijah Moore and Britain Covey.
Kendall’s absence promotes practice-squad lineman Jake Majors to his first NFL start at center. Michael Carter II will take over safety duties in nickel packages when Cooper DeJean shifts to the slot. Practice-squad elevation John Ojukwu will make his regular-season debut, and Cole Payton is active as the third quarterback behind Jalen Hurts and Tanner McKee.
Jacksonville reported depth corner Jaylon Jones as inactive and listed starting safety Eric Murray as doubtful.
