George Clooney Says He Is Not Ready to Discuss Presley Gerber's Death
Actor George Clooney, a close family friend, said he is not prepared to talk about the recent death of model Presley Gerber, describing it as devastating for the family.
Actor George Clooney addressed the death of 27-year-old model Presley Gerber for the first time on Friday evening at the Albies event in London. Asked by Entertainment Tonight whether he or Gerber’s parents, Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford, had plans to honor the late model, Clooney said he was not yet in a position to discuss it.
"Quite honestly, it's one of the most devastating things that's happened to our family," he said, adding that the loss was "the worst thing that could ever happen to a family."
Clooney has known Gerber and his sister Kaia for decades, having co-founded the Casamigos tequila brand with their parents. Gerber died on Sept. 20, 2026, while receiving treatment at a rehabilitation facility. Santa Monica police reported a possible overdose at the scene, and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed his identity.
In 2025, Gerber had spoken publicly about his struggles with mental health and substance use, noting experimentation with various drugs in a now-deleted Instagram video. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of his death.
