Apple's upcoming MacBook Pro expected to lift OLED notebook display shipments

Resumen

Counterpoint Research forecasts a 50% rise in OLED notebook display shipments in 2026, driven by Apple’s next-generation MacBook Pro and growing demand for premium AI PCs.

A Counterpoint Research report released today projects that shipments of advanced notebook displays will grow 11% in 2026 compared with the previous year, while OLED notebook displays are expected to increase by 50% during the same period. The firm says the overall notebook display market is likely to shrink 3% year over year, making the growth in advanced displays stand out.

According to the analysis, OLED’s share of advanced notebook display shipments could rise from 56% in 2025 to 75% in 2026, with MiniLED’s share falling from 44% to 25%. Counterpoint attributes part of the OLED surge to Apple’s planned adoption of the technology in its next-generation MacBook Pro, rumored to be announced on October 27 and featuring a touchscreen and a lighter chassis.

"Apple’s anticipated adoption of OLED in next-generation MacBook Pro models, alongside continued demand for premium AI PCs, is expected to drive this growth," the report states.

The research also highlights advances in OLED manufacturing, such as tandem OLED architectures that improve brightness, power efficiency and panel longevity. Apple already uses tandem OLED in the iPad Pro, and the company is expected to apply a similar two-stack design to the upcoming 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.

Counterpoint forecasts OLED notebook panel shipments to grow at a compounded annual rate of 26% between 2024 and 2030, with panel revenue projected to rise 35% per year over the same period.
