President Trump says FBI may examine death of Mississippi teen Nolan Wells

Resumen

President Donald Trump indicated he is considering urging the FBI to conduct an independent investigation into the death of 17-year-old Nolan Wells, whose body was found on federal land after a July 4 boating incident.

President Donald Trump told reporters outside the White House on Wednesday that the administration is reviewing the possibility of asking the FBI to open an independent investigation into the death of 17-year-old Nolan Wells, who disappeared during a July 4 boat outing and whose body was later recovered on Horn Island off the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Mississippi officials have concluded that Wells likely drowned and have not identified any criminal activity. The state medical examiner listed the manner of death as "undetermined" and noted head injuries, while a grand jury declined to issue an indictment.

"We're looking at that. Yes, we are," Trump said when asked if he would push the FBI to investigate.

Wells' family, represented by civil rights attorney Ben Crump, has called for a federal inquiry, arguing that the teen was found on federal land.

"Our son was found on federal land and we are asking the FBI to step in and do a full investigation," his father, Elmore Wells, said in a recent statement.
