Apple's upcoming MacBook Pro redesign to drop notch, become thinner and add slightly larger screens

Resumen

Apple is preparing its first MacBook Pro redesign since 2021, which is expected to eliminate the display notch, reduce weight and thickness, and offer marginally larger 14.3-inch and 16.3-inch screens.

Apple is set to launch its first fully redesigned MacBook Pro since the 2021 model. The new version is reported to replace the current notch with a smaller hole-punch camera cutout that will house a Dynamic Island feature, according to analyst Mark Gurman. > "The Dynamic Island on the Mac will be built around a hole-punch-sized cutout for the computer’s camera. It’s smaller than the pill-shaped notch in current iPhones," Gurman said.

Industry sources say the upcoming laptops will be noticeably lighter, with internal components re-engineered and rearranged to shrink the chassis while maintaining performance. Bloomberg noted the redesign could affect port selection, though no definitive changes have been confirmed.

Display sizes are expected to increase slightly, with reports from Omdia indicating 14.3-inch and 16.3-inch panels, up from the current 14.2-inch and 16.2-inch models. The modest size gain may result from reduced bezels or a marginally larger overall footprint to accommodate the thinner design.
