Two contestants exit Dancing With the Stars during Mariah Carey tribute night

Résumé

During the fourth week of season 35, the show featured a Mariah Carey-themed dance night and eliminated Ciara Miller with partner Brandon Armstrong, following the prior week’s surprise departure of Taylor Hanson and Britt Stewart.

ABC's Dancing With the Stars devoted its fourth competition week to a Mariah Carey tribute, with couples performing routines set to hits such as “Emotions,” “Fantasy,” “Obsessed” and “Touch My Body.”

Three pairs earned the highest judges’ score of 24 out of 30 – Ezra Frech and Daniella Karagach, Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson, and Jenna Dewan and Val Chmerkovskiy – matching each other's marks. Maura Higgins and Mark Ballas later received the first 9 of the season from Carrie Ann Inaba, achieving a 25-point Waltz to “If It’s Over,” the top score of the season to date.

Guillermo Rodriguez and Witney Carson recorded the lowest score, a 13 for their samba to “Obsessed.” Ciara Miller and Brandon Armstrong, who danced a jazz to “Emotions,” tied at 21 points with several other couples and were eliminated, marking the second consecutive week the show concluded with an unexpected exit.

The competition’s elimination format combines judges’ scores with audience votes, with viewers allowed up to ten votes per couple via the network’s website or text messaging during a limited voting window after the live East Coast broadcast.
