FBI Director Kash Patel and Country Singer Alex Wilkins Announce Engagement

FBI Director Kash Patel and Nashville-based country singer Alex Wilkins said they are engaged, posting the news on the social platform X on Sunday. Wilkins shared a photo showing her engagement ring beside Patel and wrote, "Went and got the law involved."

The couple, who began dating in 2023 after meeting at a ReAwaken America event, kept their relationship largely private until Wilkins stood beside Patel during his swearing-in ceremony as FBI Director in February. Their partnership attracted public interest last year when reports emerged that Wilkins was assigned an FBI protective detail.

According to an FBI spokesperson, Wilkins receives the detail because she has faced "hundreds of credible death threats" linked to her relationship with Patel. The detail is composed of agents normally assigned to the FBI’s Nashville SWAT team, a deployment described as atypical for a director’s partner who does not cohabit with him.

Former senior FBI agent Christopher O’Leary commented that there is "no legitimate justification" for assigning such a detail to someone who is not the director’s spouse and does not live with him, noting the timing coincides with recent reductions in security for other individuals under threat.

The announcement has sparked discussion on social media regarding the appropriateness of the security measures and the couple’s public profile.
