Prince Andrew seeks judicial review of police arrest linked to Epstein investigation

Résumé

Prince Andrew has filed a judicial review challenging the legality of search warrants used in his February arrest, with a hearing scheduled for Thursday.

Prince Andrew, 66, has asked a UK judge to assess whether Thames Valley Police acted lawfully when they executed search warrants at his Sandringham and Windsor residences earlier this year. The former duke lodged a judicial review concerning the warrants obtained from the Central Criminal Court, and a court hearing is set for Thursday, according to British media.

Thames Valley Police confirmed it is involved in legal proceedings related to the warrants and declined further comment. The prince was detained on his birthday, February 19, at his Sandringham home and questioned for nearly 12 hours before being released without charge. Police said the investigation remains ongoing.

The arrest followed earlier inquiries into whether the former trade envoy had shared confidential information with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. Prince Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing or personal benefit from his former diplomatic role. He stepped back from official royal duties in 2019 after a televised interview about his association with Epstein. In 2025, King Charles removed his princely title after a memoir by Virginia Giuffre alleged sexual assault, claims the prince has also denied.
