Samsung rolls out One UI 9 with expanded customization options

Résumé

The One UI 9 update, now available on many Samsung Galaxy devices, adds new features for personalising the interface, including enhancements to Good Lock, Home Up and the Quick Panel.

Samsung has begun deploying its One UI 9 software update to a broad range of Galaxy smartphones, bringing a suite of new customisation tools. The update expands the capabilities of Samsung's Good Lock suite and the Home Up app, allowing users to modify the appearance of the Favorites background, apply blur and shadow effects, and adjust colours.

"You can add blur and shadow effects, change the image and colour, and completely remodel the look of the background to your Favorites area," the company’s documentation explains.

Home Up also introduces multi-finger gestures that can be assigned to actions such as taking screenshots or adjusting volume, with options for two- to five-finger motions. The Quick Panel receives a redesign that lets users drag, resize or remove tiles, add previously deleted controls, and merge separate panels into a single shade. Size limits on tiles have been removed, giving users full control over element dimensions.

These changes aim to give owners more flexibility in tailoring the look and functionality of their devices.
