Projected AP Top 25 Rankings After Week 5 of College Football
Following a week of upsets, including Florida's loss to Missouri, analysts outline how the AP poll may shift when it is released on Sunday.
The Associated Press poll is expected to change after Week 5 of the college football season, with several ranked teams recording losses. Florida, which had previously defeated Ole Miss, fell 45–17 to Missouri, a result that will likely drop the Gators in the upcoming rankings.
Texas remains unbeaten at 4–0 and is projected to stay at the top of the poll despite a bye week. Georgia, also 5–0, is expected to hold the No. 2 spot after a 38–14 win over Vanderbilt, while Miami, Notre Dame, Alabama, Ohio State, Indiana, and others round out the projected top ten based on their recent performances.
Alabama’s 56–23 victory over Mississippi State, highlighted by a defense that forced multiple turnovers, should keep the Crimson Tide in the top five. Ohio State’s 31–14 win over Iowa featured a dominant defensive effort and a strong showing by quarterback Jeremiah Smith.
Missouri’s 45–17 win over Florida positions the Tigers for a rise in the poll, and teams such as LSU, BYU, Texas Tech, and Utah are also projected to remain in the top 25 as they head into the next round of games.
The projected rankings reflect each team’s win-loss record, strength of schedule, and recent on-field results, and will be finalized when the AP releases its official poll on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
