Big 12 power rankings remain stable after week 6 victories
Week 6 saw Utah, BYU and other top teams post double-digit wins, leaving little movement at the top of the Big 12 power rankings ahead of a pivotal Week 7.
After a week of dominant performances, the Big 12 power rankings changed little. Utah and BYU each posted double-digit victories, while Oklahoma State, Arizona and Houston also recorded convincing wins, keeping the conference’s top spots largely unchanged.
The league’s marquee matchup this weekend will be No. 8 BYU hosting No. 2 Notre Dame in Provo, a game that could boost the Cougars’ national profile. In conference play, the top-20 clash features No. 18 Oklahoma State traveling to face No. 20 Houston.
The current rankings place Utah (5-0, 2-0 Big 12) at the summit, followed by BYU (5-0, 3-0) and Texas Tech (5-0, 2-0). Arizona (5-1, 2-1) moved up one spot after a 52-31 win over West Virginia, while Oklahoma State (4-1, 2-0) slipped a place despite a 42-28 victory over UCF.
Houston (5-1, 2-1) and Baylor (4-1, 2-0) remain in the top six, each preparing for upcoming challenges against fellow conference opponents. Cincinnati, Iowa State, Arizona State and other teams round out the list, with several looking to capitalize on upcoming bye weeks and key matchups to improve their standing.
The author notes that there will be no new power rankings next week due to a vacation, with the next update scheduled for Oct. 28 after Week 8.
