Rock singer Sass Jordan dies at 63 after health-related tour cancellations
Canadian rock vocalist Sass Jordan, whose career spanned four decades, died at age 63. Her family announced the death on social media; no cause was disclosed.
Canadian rock singer and television personality Sass Jordan died on Oct. 2, 2026, at the age of 63, her family announced on her Facebook page. The post said she passed away surrounded by family and will be remembered by loved ones.
Jordan had cancelled the remainder of her 2026 tour in September after being diagnosed with a serious medical condition, according to a statement from her team that said she was advised to step away from professional commitments to focus on recovery.
Born in Birmingham, England, and raised in Montreal, Jordan launched her recording career with the 1988 debut album "Tell Somebody," which earned her a Juno Award for Most Promising Female Vocalist in 1989. Her 1992 album "Racine" produced several international hits, and she later achieved a No. 5 placement on the Billboard Blues chart with the album "Rebel Moon Blues." Over her career she released ten albums, the most recent being "Bitches Blues" in 2022, and performed with artists such as Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, Van Halen and AC/DC. Jordan also served as a judge on "Canadian Idol" for six seasons and portrayed Janis Joplin in the stage production "Love, Janis."
"Unfortunately, due to a serious medical condition, Sass is currently unable to perform and has been advised to step away from all professional commitments for the remainder of 2026 to focus on healthy and recovery," the team statement read. "Sass is very sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment this may cause and greatly appreciates your understanding under these circumstances," it added.
