Zach Bryan dons "Free Palestine" shirt at Gillette Stadium concert
Country singer Zach Bryan wore a T-shirt bearing the words "Free Palestine" during his performance at Gillette Stadium, amid ongoing controversy over the venue's handling of pro-Palestinian statements by other artists.
Country singer Zach Bryan appeared on stage at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, wearing a black T-shirt that read "Free Palestine" in white letters. The outfit was captured in videos that spread across social media on Friday night.
The appearance comes weeks after the stadium’s owner, Robert Kraft, was reported to have pressured Ed Sheeran to remove a supporting act that expressed pro-Palestinian views. Kraft, who also owns the New England Patriots, declined to comment when approached for comment. He previously said his goal was to maintain a "welcoming environment" at the venue, not to suppress support for Palestinians.
Last month, rapper Macklemore said he was asked to leave Sheeran’s tour after speaking in favor of Palestinians during shows in New Jersey. Following Macklemore’s removal, several other opening acts, including Aaron Rowe, Lukas Graham, Finneas and the house band Beoga, withdrew from the tour in protest. Sheeran later apologized for his handling of the situation, stating, "I’ve never wanted to be an activist musician, but this has put me in the middle of an important and passionate argument about freedom of speech and the most complex political issue on the planet."
Macklemore announced a "Free Palestine Tour" for the fall, though Gillette Stadium is not scheduled as a stop. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has increasingly intersected with popular culture, influencing events from political races to museum exhibitions.
Bryan, known for songs such as "Something in the Orange" and "I Remember Everything" with Kacey Musgraves, previously served in the U.S. Navy before achieving Grammy recognition.
