Apple says iPhone 18 Pro Max hardware issue causes loss of service on AT&T network

Resumen

Apple confirmed a hardware defect affecting a small number of iPhone 18 Pro Max devices on AT&T, prompting a software and carrier settings update to prevent service loss.

Apple has identified a hardware problem that can cause iPhone 18 Pro Max units on the AT&T network to lose cellular service, displaying an SOS icon instead of signal bars and disabling calls, texts and data. The issue is reported to affect a small number of users. > "We have identified an issue affecting a small number of iPhone 18 Pro Max users on the AT&T network that may cause a device to lose service and be unable to make calls. We released iOS 27.0.1 earlier this week and strongly encourage all iPhone 18 Pro Max users to update now, and are also issuing a carrier settings update today. These updates together are meant to help prevent this issue from occurring," Apple said. The company advises owners to install iOS 27.0.1 and the accompanying carrier settings update via Settings > General > Software Update. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is the only U.S. model that uses a Qualcomm modem rather than Apple’s own, though Apple has not linked the modem to the defect.
