Michael Douglas Discloses Past Affair with Kathleen Turner as She Responds
Michael Douglas revealed in his memoir that he had a secret romance with Kathleen Turner during the filming of Romancing the Stone, and Turner issued a brief comment on the revelation.
Michael Douglas said in a newly released excerpt from his memoir that he and Kathleen Turner began a romantic relationship while shooting the 1984 adventure film Romancing the Stone. The actor, who was separated from his wife Diandra Douglas at the time, wrote that the two kept the affair hidden for four decades to protect his family, noting that co-workers such as director Robert Zemeckis and co-star Danny DeVito were unaware.
Douglas added that the pair worked together on several later projects, including Jewel of the Nile, War of the Roses and the television series The Kominsky Method, and that they had repeatedly denied any romance in public statements.
Turner responded to the memoir excerpt, describing the attention to a decades-old affair as “a fuss about something 40 years ago” and saying she looks forward to reading the book.
"Good heavens what a fuss about something 40 years ago! I love Michael and I look forward to enjoying the book," the actress said in a statement to People.
The disclosure comes as Douglas reflects on his personal life, stating that his estranged wife had become suspicious during the film’s production and confronted Turner.
