Casey Bloys to Lead HBO Max and Paramount+ After Merger

Résumé

Warner Bros. Discovery announced that HBO Max executive Casey Bloys will oversee both HBO Max and Paramount+ following the company's merger with Paramount, while Paramount's streaming chief Cindy Holland has departed.

Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed that Casey Bloys, a longtime HBO Max executive, will assume responsibility for both HBO Max and Paramount+ after the merger with Paramount. The move comes as Paramount's direct-to-consumer chair Cindy Holland has left her position, adding uncertainty to the combined streaming operation.

Bloys, who joined HBO in 2004, has been credited with developing series such as "Veep," "Girls," "Silicon Valley," "Barry," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Succession," "House of the Dragon," "The White Lotus," "The Last of Us," "The Penguin" and "Euphoria." Industry sources told Variety that Bloys is expected to manage content across both platforms, including titles from the Paramount library like the "Taylor Sheridan" franchise and upcoming seasons of "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" and "Dexter: Resurrection."

"David [Ellison] is optimizing for HBO stability as we move into this next chapter, and I fully support that," Holland said in a statement.

Analysts note that Bloys' dual role will be critical in shaping the merged company's streaming strategy and preserving the programming that has driven HBO's recent award success.
