LeBron James flies to New York after first 76ers practice

LeBron James left the Philadelphia 76ers' practice facility by helicopter after his first training camp session on Tuesday, heading back to his residence in New York. ESPN reporter Dave McMenamin said the aircraft was heard taking off as Sixers forward Anfernee Simons spoke to the media. James, who signed with the Sixers as a free agent this summer, will split his time between the two cities during the 2026-27 season. The 95-mile drive typically requires 90 minutes to two hours, while a helicopter flight can cover the distance in roughly 40 to 45 minutes. He is expected to make his on-court debut for Philadelphia on Oct. 5, when the Sixers host the New York Knicks in a preseason game.
