Pima County Sheriff’s Office and FBI Examine New Ransom Note in Nancy Guthrie Kidnapping Case
Authorities are reviewing a newly reported ransom note related to the 2026 kidnapping of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie in Tucson, Arizona, and are working with the FBI to verify its authenticity.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office said it has received a possible ransom note linked to the 2026 abduction of Nancy Guthrie, an 84-year-old woman taken from her Tucson home on February 1. The department is coordinating with the Federal Bureau of Investigation to determine whether the note is genuine. The contents of the note have not been disclosed.
Guthrie, the mother of Today Show co-host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing since the kidnapping, which was captured on a doorbell camera showing a masked intruder. Earlier, authorities received one or more ransom notes that claimed she was dead; the family has asserted those notes were authentic and has asked for the return of her remains.
The new lead was reported after the case had seen limited activity in recent months, prompting renewed investigative efforts.
