49ers wide receiver Mike Evans listed as day-to-day after rib injury

Summary

Mike Evans left the 36-30 win over the Arizona Cardinals with a rib injury and is expected to miss at least the next game, adding to a growing list of injuries among San Francisco's receivers.

San Francisco wide receiver Mike Evans was taken off the field in the second quarter of Sunday’s 36-30 victory against the Arizona Cardinals and is now classified as day-to-day, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported. The six-time Pro Bowler was carted to the locker room after a hard hit and was later diagnosed with a rib injury, ruling him out for the remainder of the game.

Evans had recorded three receptions for 34 yards, including a 23-yard touchdown, before exiting. The 49ers’ receiving corps has been hit by multiple injuries; fellow receiver Demarcus Robinson and rookie De’Zhaun Stribling are already on injured reserve, with Stribling expected to miss at least until November.

"Evans' injury didn't have much impact on Sunday's outcome," a team spokesperson said, noting the Niners still managed to move the ball effectively.

The team will need to address the reduced depth at wideout as the season progresses, especially after the loss of both Stribling and Evans.
