Apple Notes gains divider lines, section links and Siri AI integration in iOS 27
iOS 27 adds divider lines, section links, enhanced Markdown handling and Siri AI support to Apple Notes, along with visual updates and Image Playground improvements.
Apple has added several new capabilities to the Notes app in the iOS 27 update. Users can now insert divider lines to separate content, and create section links that act as a table of contents for longer notes. To add a divider, users tap the desired location, open the edit menu and select the “Insert Divider Line” option. Section links are created by selecting text, choosing “Add Link” and then “Link to Section,” which lists the note’s headings for direct linking.
The update also expands Siri’s functionality, allowing the voice assistant to add or reformat information in existing or new notes. Users can ask Siri to take a list, reformat it and insert it into a note, or specify a particular note for additions.
Markdown support is further streamlined: when Markdown-formatted text is pasted into a note, it automatically converts to rich text, and a new “Copy as Markdown” option lets users copy note content in Markdown syntax.
Image Playground, which is integrated into Notes, receives upgrades to its generative AI models, enabling the creation of high-quality, photorealistic images that include a hidden SynthID watermark to identify them as AI-generated.
Additional refinements include a refreshed app icon, updated Liquid Glass visual effects for buttons and menus, and new icons for shared folders and notes.
