Blizzard raises server limit for World of Warcraft: Forever beta amid strong demand

Summary

Blizzard increased the population cap for the World of Warcraft: Forever beta after a surge in player interest, with executives noting unprecedented activity levels.

Blizzard announced that it has raised the server capacity for the World of Warcraft: Forever beta following a notable increase in player numbers. Executive producer Holly Longdale shared on her social media account that the population cap was adjusted again over the weekend.

The beta, which requires a one-time purchase of the Skyborne Epic pack priced at £51.99, $59.99 or €59.99, has drawn significant attention since its launch. Longdale said, "So... we had to increase the WoW: Forever Beta population cap again. The wild ride continues."

Industry veteran Josh Greenfield, who worked on World of Warcraft: Classic, described the beta's activity as the "craziest numbers I've seen in 17 years working at Blizzard and almost 8 years on classic." He referenced the game's historic peak during the Wrath of the Lich King era, when subscriber counts reached around 12 million worldwide.

The full release of World of Warcraft: Forever is scheduled for 4 November, at which point access will shift to a monthly subscription model, which is expected to further boost player participation.
