Elizabeth Holmes posts from prison, announces upcoming transfer to halfway house

Resumen

Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes used her social-media account to assert her innocence and noted she will move to a transitional center in August 2027.

Elizabeth Holmes, the former Theranos CEO serving an 11-year sentence for wire fraud and conspiracy, posted a message on her X account stating she continues to claim innocence and that “the truth will set you free.” The 42-year-old said she has been incarcerated for 1,216 days and indicated that future posts will be signed with her initials, EAH.

Holmes thanked supporters who have written to her and mentioned her husband, Billy Evans, as a key figure managing her online presence. She also shared a personal photograph with Evans, though the date of the image was not specified.

The Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Texas, where Holmes is currently held, will transfer her to the Austin Transitional Center in Del Valle on Aug. 23, 2027. The move to the privately-run 460-bed facility will be overseen by the U.S. Probation Office. A Bureau of Prisons spokesperson said the agency does not discuss individual confinement conditions or release plans until an inmate arrives at a new institution.

Holmes’ commutation petition, filed with the Trump administration last year, remains pending. She was convicted in 2022 on four counts of wire fraud and conspiracy related to Theranos’ blood-testing claims and ordered to pay $452 million in restitution. Holmes has repeatedly refused to plead guilty, maintaining that she did not commit the crimes for which she was sentenced.

A documentary about the early months of her imprisonment, directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, is slated for release on Oct. 16.
