Résumé

Taylor Swift premiered the music video for her new single "Patient Zero" during the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, where she also received the inaugural Artist Director honor.

Taylor Swift unveiled the video for her latest single “Patient Zero” during the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night. The debut followed her acceptance of the inaugural Artist Director honor, which was presented by actress Dakota Johnson onstage.

The video features Swift alongside Johnson and Colin Farrell. Johnson plays Farrell’s current lover, and the narrative depicts a troubled relationship that culminates in Swift’s character being poisoned and buried, with Johnson placing a rose on the grave.

"Patient Zero" is one of four new tracks added to the deluxe edition of Swift’s album The Life of a Showgirl: Encore Edition, released on Friday. The other additions are “Babylon,” “Pink Clouding” and “Cleveland.”

Swift arrived at the ceremony in a black dress with a mesh cutout and a glittered silver skirt, and she paused for photos on the red carpet before the show.

The ceremony, hosted by Snoop Dogg and broadcast on CBS, took place in Los Angeles for the first time since 2017. It opened with a performance by Madonna that included cameo appearances by Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX and others. Other performers included Lisa, Kacey Musgraves, Teddy Swims and Gunna. The event also honored Nirvana with a video award and featured tributes to Dolly Parton and George Michael.
