NFL tight end Travis Kelce will skip the MTV Video Music Awards because the Kansas City Chiefs have a game in Florida, while wife Taylor Swift will attend the ceremony in Los Angeles.

Travis Kelce will not be present at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, as the Kansas City Chiefs are scheduled to play the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium in Florida. His wife, pop star Taylor Swift, is expected to attend the ceremony at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

Swift, who has received 11 nominations, will be honored with the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honors, an award that recognizes artists whose behind-the-camera work expands music-video storytelling. She will also debut the video for her new single "Patient Zero," which features Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell, during the show.

The singer announced the single and its release date on Instagram, noting that it is part of a deluxe edition of her 2025 album "The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore," which includes three additional tracks.

Kelce and Swift, who married in July, made their awards-show debut as a couple at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards in March. Although they did not share the red carpet, Kelce sat beside Swift throughout the ceremony, and she later thanked him during her acceptance speech for Pop Album of the Year.

"I think that this album probably also feels very happy and confident and free because that’s the way I get to feel every single day of my life because of my fiancé, who’s here tonight," Swift said during her speech.
