Widow of Chadwick Boseman disputes family’s stance on upcoming documentary
Taylor Simone Ledward Boseman says Chadwick Boseman's relatives are hindering a documentary about the actor, while his brothers seek to remove her as estate administrator.
Taylor Simone Ledward Boseman, the widow of the late actor Chadwick Boseman, says she is encountering resistance from his family as she develops a documentary about his life. Court documents obtained by media outlets show she is collaborating with the production company Words + Pictures and is negotiating a deal with Searchlight Pictures that would be structured on a “Most Favored Nation” basis, meaning the same terms would apply to all parties involved.
“Both sides of the family were sent identical paperwork,” Simone said, adding that the family requested separate agreements, which she described as an example of her “generosity to the Boseman family” because she retains full control over Chadwick’s name, image, voice, signature and likeness.
Simone says she has consistently consulted the family on activities intended to honor Chadwick’s legacy, but alleges the family has not reciprocated. Meanwhile, Chadwick’s brothers have filed a petition to remove Simone as administrator of the estate, claiming a lack of financial transparency. Simone denies those allegations and says she has provided the family with more financial support than required.
