Amazon to End Prime Invitee Program, Restricting Free Shipping Sharing to Household Members
Amazon will discontinue its Prime Invitee program on October 1, 2025, limiting free shipping benefits to members within the same household.
Amazon has announced the termination of its Prime Invitee program, effective October 1, 2025. This program previously allowed Prime members to share free shipping benefits with individuals outside their household. Moving forward, only members residing at the same primary address will be eligible to share these benefits.
In place of the Invitee program, Amazon is promoting its Amazon Family initiative. This program permits Prime members to share benefits with one other adult and up to four children within the same household. All participants must share the same primary residential address and payment method.
To facilitate the transition, Amazon is offering affected invitees a discounted Prime membership at $14.99 for the first year, available from September 5 through December 31, 2025. After the first year, the standard membership fee of $14.99 per month or $139 annually will apply.
This change aligns Amazon with other subscription services that have recently restricted account sharing to boost individual subscriptions. The company has not disclosed the number of users impacted by this policy shift.
