Presley Gerber found dead in Santa Monica rehab facility
The 27-year-old son of Cindy Crawford was discovered deceased in a bedroom at a sober-living home in Santa Monica, with authorities still investigating the cause of death.
Presley Gerber, 27, was found dead in a bedroom at a sober-living facility in Santa Monica, California, on September 20, according to a source close to the investigation. The body was located near the bed, but not on it, on Sunday night.
Authorities have not yet identified fentanyl in the investigation, and the official cause of death remains pending. 911 audio obtained by reporters shows that Gerber was treated for a suspected overdose after experiencing cardiac arrest.
Gerber had checked into the facility the same weekend he was pronounced dead and was reportedly under the influence of a substance upon arrival. He had been prescribed ketamine by a physician, despite a history of frequent use, and a 24-hour sober coach had been involved in his care in the months preceding his death.
The only son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, he had previously spoken publicly about his struggles with substance abuse and mental health, including a 2018 DUI conviction. In November, he announced a brief hiatus from social media to focus on his mental health and promoted a "Mental Health Mondays" initiative.
A source said Gerber appeared "off" in the weeks before his death. He is survived by his younger sister, Kaia Gerber.
