Meta expands Muse AI agent with avatars, smart-glass integration and new commerce links

Resumen

Meta unveiled several enhancements for its Muse personal AI assistant, including a digital avatar, support for Mac computers, integration with its upcoming AI glasses, and expanded shopping partnerships.

Meta introduced a series of upgrades to its Muse personal AI assistant at the Connect conference in Menlo Park. The company said the agent will soon offer a customizable digital avatar that can engage in real-time video chats, powered by a new Muse Realtime Avatar model.

The firm also announced that Muse will be integrated with its upcoming AI-enabled smart glasses, allowing users to activate the assistant with a wake word and receive help with tasks such as workouts, meal logging, appointment scheduling and product purchases. Meta indicated the feature is expected to roll out in the coming months.

In addition, Muse will be extended to macOS, enabling the assistant to operate desktop applications and perform tasks on behalf of users. "You can have it help you run your small business, or just get work done for you," said Meta’s chief AI officer Alexandr Wang. The company said Muse will also receive its own email address, allowing it to be added to email threads or to handle forwarded messages.

Meta highlighted new commerce integrations, citing partnerships with Stripe, Shopify, PayPal, and retailers such as Best Buy, Gap, Sephora, Walmart and Wayfair. The assistant will be able to access product catalogs, process payments and interact with services like Expedia and Instacart. Developers can create additional connectors through Meta’s platform, which has already attracted more than 1,500 applications.
