Disney+ and Hulu raise subscription fees for fourth time in four years

Summary

Disney announced price increases for its ad-free Disney+ and Hulu plans, as well as for certain bundles, effective Sept. 23, marking the fourth hike since 2020.

Disney will raise the monthly price of its ad-free Disney+ Premium and Hulu Premium plans from $18.99 to $21.49, a 13% increase. The combined Disney+/Hulu Premium bundle will rise from $19.99 to $21.99 per month, remaining lower than the cost of the two services purchased separately.

The ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu standalone plans will go up from $11.99 to $12.49 a month, while the Disney+ and Hulu bundle that includes ads stays at $12.99. Prices for Hulu + Live TV packages and Disney+/Hulu bundles that include ESPN Select are also being increased.

The changes take effect on Sept. 23 for new subscribers, with existing customers seeing the new rates on their next billing cycle. The adjustments coincide with the debut of the Pixar film "Toy Story 5" on Disney+.

"The ad-free Disney+ tier has now nearly doubled in price from the $10.99/month rate in 2023," a Disney spokesperson noted.

This is the fourth price increase in four years, following hikes in October 2023 and October 2024, and follows a recent rise in the ESPN Unlimited service from $29.99 to $31.99 per month.
