Ella Langley Sets New Billboard Hot 100 Record, Surpassing Mariah Carey

Résumé

Country singer Ella Langley’s single “Choosin’ Texas” has spent 23 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, breaking Mariah Carey’s previous record of 22 weeks.

Country artist Ella Langley said her song “Choosin’ Texas” has changed her life after it logged a 23-week run at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, overtaking Mariah Carey’s 22-week record with “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”

Langley posted an Instagram video from beside her pool on Tuesday, thanking fans for their support and noting the achievement feels surreal. > “It’s changing my life. It’s changing the lives of the writers of this song. It’s changing the lives of my family,” she said.

“Choosin’ Texas,” which debuted on the chart in November 2025, reached No. 1 in February and has now spent 48 weeks on the Hot 100. The track, co-written by Langley with Luke Dick, Miranda Lambert and Joybeth Taylor, recorded 21.8 million official streams in the most recent tracking week, a 9 percent decline from the prior week, while its radio audience grew 2 percent to 58.3 million impressions. The song also ranks in the top ten of pop, adult-pop and adult contemporary airplay charts.

Billboard’s Hot 100 combines streaming, radio airplay and sales data across all genres. Carey’s holiday classic could challenge the record during the Christmas season, as it has repeatedly returned to No. 1 each year since first topping the chart in 2019.

The next-closest entries on the all-time Hot 100 leaderboard are Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” each with 19 weeks at No. 1.
