One week after a news-gathering helicopter collided with a power line in Chatsworth, killing reporter Eliana Moreno, pilot George Marciniw and a bystander, Moreno's fiancé posted a statement on Instagram thanking those who offered condolences. He noted Moreno's enthusiasm for journalism and recalled plans the couple had discussed for retirement in Tennessee, where they hoped to manage land and care for animals. He also expressed appreciation for family and friends who shared memories of Moreno.
"I don't have the words to express the pain I feel in my heart from losing my love Eliana this way," the fiancé wrote.
"Eliana loved and was passionate about what she did; I would sometimes joke with her as she left for work that she was leaving to her favorite place," the statement added.
"Thank you to everyone sending me all the memories and stories they have made with Eliana. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy," he concluded.
