Taylor Swift to Receive Inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honor
Taylor Swift will be presented with the first MTV VMA Artist Director Honors at the 2026 Video Music Awards, bringing her total VMA wins to a record 30.
Taylor Swift is set to receive the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honors at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 27 in Los Angeles, according to CBS and MTV. The award, created to recognize artists whose behind-the-camera work has advanced music videos and visual storytelling, makes Swift the most decorated act in VMA history, tying and then surpassing Beyoncé with 30 career wins.
Swift, a seven-time nominee for best direction and four-time winner in the category, has directed videos such as "The Fate of Ophelia," "Opalite," "The Man," "cardigan," "willow," "All Too Well: The Short Film," "Anti-Hero," "Bejeweled" and "Fortnight" featuring Post Malone. She holds nine competitive nominations for this year’s ceremony, including video of the year and artist of the year, with "The Fate of Ophelia" earning seven nods and "Opalite" adding a best direction nomination.
The 2026 VMAs will be hosted by Snoop Dogg and broadcast live on CBS, simulcast on MTV and streamed on Paramount+ from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. ET.
