Rep. Lauren Boebert denies allegations of sexual relationships with staffers

Résumé

Representative Lauren Boebert rejected claims that she had sexual relations with three of her staff members, calling the accusations a fabricated ethics complaint.

Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO) said she has not engaged in sexual relationships with any of her staff, refuting an ethics complaint that alleged she had affairs with three employees, including two women. Boebert, who previously obtained a temporary civil protection order against the complainant, David Wheeler, described the filing as a "smear" and questioned its validity under House Ethics Committee rules, which require complaints to be certified by a lawmaker and prohibit filing within 60 days of an election.

Wheeler, who leads the group American Muckrakers, alleged that Boebert had relationships with former district director Clarice Navarro Ratzlaff, former chief of staff Jeffrey Small and current chief of staff Raven Finegan, and even suggested a threesome involving former Rep. Matt Gaetz. All three staff members have denied the allegations.

"You all ran a smear and called it news," Boebert said in a video posted on X, adding that the complaint was "garbage" and not eligible for review by the ethics panel.

Wheeler has a history of filing controversial claims against Boebert, including a 2022 allegation that she previously worked as an escort, which was later debunked. Boebert has indicated she may pursue legal action over the current accusations, noting the impact on her former aides and their families.
