Falcons coach says it's too early to confirm Michael Penix's availability for Thursday game

Résumé

Atlanta lost 34-3 to Carolina, dropping to 0-2, and coach Kevin Stefanski said there is no update on quarterback Michael Penix's health ahead of the upcoming matchup.

Atlanta fell to 0-2 after a 34-3 defeat by the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, a loss in which the team committed five turnovers, three of them while starter Cooper Rush was on the field. Rookie Jack Strand entered in the third quarter, but the limited options beyond Michael Penix left the Falcons with few appealing alternatives as the season progresses.

At the post-game press conference, head coach Kevin Stefanski was asked whether Penix would be ready to play against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night. Stefanski said Penix continues to make progress in his recovery from a torn ACL suffered last season, but he declined to provide a timeline, stating, > "I don’t think now’s the time to know."
