New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert dies at 45 after long cancer battle

Resumen

Chad Gilbert, guitarist for pop-punk band New Found Glory, died peacefully in his sleep at age 45 following years of treatment for a rare adrenal gland cancer.

New Found Glory announced on Instagram that guitarist Chad Gilbert died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday morning at the age of 45. The band’s statement said he was surrounded by his wife, Lisa Cimorelli, and his mother at the time of his passing.

"He left this world surrounded by friends and family and took his final breaths with his wife and mother by his side, just as he wished," the post read.

Gilbert, who had been battling a rare adrenal gland cancer diagnosed in December 2021, had previously undergone brain surgery in February to remove three tumors. The disease later spread to his spine, lungs and back, and he disclosed a recent emergency-room visit in which 4.5 liters of fluid were drained from his lungs.

The band highlighted Gilbert’s contributions to New Found Glory’s music and touring over nearly three decades, noting his role in songwriting and performance. He is survived by his wife Lisa, daughter Lily, mother Jackie and brother Brian.

Gilbert’s previous marriages included a brief union with musician Sherri DuPree and a later marriage to Paramore vocalist Hayley Williams, which ended in 2017.
