Passenger jumps overboard from Carnival Panorama en route to Long Beach

Resumen

A male passenger went overboard from the Carnival Panorama while sailing from Puerto Vallarta to Long Beach; the ship turned back to search and coordinated with U.S. and Mexican authorities.

A male passenger jumped overboard from the Carnival Panorama as the vessel traveled from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, to Long Beach, California, on Saturday. Carnival Cruise Line confirmed the incident and said the ship’s crew initiated search and investigation procedures, reviewing CCTV footage and notifying both the U.S. and Mexico Coast Guards.

The passenger was reportedly paged at about 10:30 a.m., and surveillance footage later showed him going overboard. The ship turned around around 2 p.m., searched the surrounding waters, and resumed its voyage to Long Beach at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Carnival said it is supporting the passenger’s relatives, who were traveling with him, and that the missing guest’s identity has not been released. A cruise official announced to passengers that the fleet operation in Miami and the appropriate authorities had been notified and that the search would continue.

Passengers created a temporary memorial wall with handwritten messages, prayers and small items as a way to express support for the family while the ship continued its journey. The investigation into the circumstances of the overboard incident remains ongoing.
