Stallone Says He Never Intended to Serve as Trump’s Hollywood Ambassador
Sylvester Stallone told The Sunday Times he was surprised by his 2025 appointment as a special ambassador to Hollywood by President Trump and declined to take on the role.
Sylvester Stallone said he was taken aback when he learned he had been named a “special ambassador” to Hollywood by President Donald Trump in January 2025. In an interview with The Sunday Times, the actor recalled seeing the announcement on television and asking, “Excuse me? Really?”
Stallone explained that he would have refused the position from the start, noting that Hollywood operates like “feudal states” with its own power structures and that he, along with Mel Gibson and Jon Voight, prefer to work independently. He told Trump the arrangement “won’t work” and thanked him before ending the conversation, saying it was “impossible” for him to act as a liaison.
Despite his reservations, Stallone said he still holds a favorable view of Trump, describing the former president as a “mythical character” who achieved something “no one else could have pulled off.”
