Rep. Lauren Boebert Denies Allegations of Sexual Relationships with Staff

Ամփոփում

Congresswoman Lauren Boebert called recent claims that she had affairs with three staff members false, labeling the accusations a politically motivated stunt.

Congresswoman Lauren Boebert said she has never been in an inappropriate relationship with any of her staff and denied rumors that she had affairs with three former employees, including two women. Boebert’s office described the allegations as “utterly false” and suggested they were intended to manipulate the House Ethics Committee and generate clickbait.

The accusations were filed on Thursday by political activist David Wheeler, leader of the group American Muckrakers, who has previously lodged ethics complaints against Boebert. Wheeler’s complaint alleges that Boebert had a “fling” with former district director Clarice Navarro Ratzlaff from 2021 onward and references two other staffers, former chief of staff Jeffrey Small and current chief of staff Raven Finegan, though it provides few details about the latter two.

Navarro Ratzlaff denied the claims, calling them “entirely false, defamatory, and beyond ridiculous.” Wheeler said his filing is based on House disclosures and anonymous sources, and he claims to possess supporting documents such as text messages and bank records. Boebert has a restraining order against Wheeler dating back to 2022.

The complaint arrives amid ongoing House rules that prohibit members from engaging in sexual relationships with staff, a policy enacted after the #MeToo movement. Boebert, who previously faced a separate ethics complaint and a viral incident involving a former boyfriend at a theater in Denver, has dismissed the latest allegations as a “politically motivated stunt.”
