Kim Zolciak seen shopping as son KJ Biermann faces court setbacks

Summary

Reality TV star Kim Zolciak was photographed in Alpharetta, Georgia, while her 15-year-old son KJ Biermann’s case on sexual battery and sodomy moved forward after a judge denied his request for a closed courtroom.

Kim Zolciak, a former cast member of "Real Housewives of Atlanta," was spotted in Alpharetta, Georgia, on Friday, where she was photographed shopping in a black tank top and jeans. The appearance came as her son, 15-year-old KJ Biermann, encountered a setback in his criminal case.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Melynee Leftridge rejected Biermann’s motion to close the courtroom, stating that “the high legal standard for permitting a closed courtroom was not met by Defendant.” The judge allowed a limited photography order and sealed the teen’s juvenile records, while also denying a request to restrict prosecutors from releasing certain information that could affect bond considerations.

Prosecutors have filed an emergency motion seeking forensic interviews of minor children related to the case. Biermann, who was arrested in August, faces seven charges, including aggravated sexual battery, aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation, false imprisonment and additional sexual battery counts. The alleged victim, a female classmate, claims the assaults occurred at a Life Time fitness center in Alpharetta in April.

KJ’s attorney, Jason Sheffield, maintains his client’s innocence, describing him as “100% innocent.” Zolciak issued a statement denying the allegations, saying her son “categorically denies ever being involved with this woman or engaging in the conduct.”

At a bond hearing on Sept. 11, Biermann was granted a $200,000 bond with conditions that include electronic monitoring, a ban on cell-phone use, surrender of his passport, virtual schooling from his mother’s home, and no contact with the alleged victim or anyone under 16. His estranged father, Kroy Biermann, attended the hearing separately.

The case also involves claims that videos of KJ engaging in sexual activity with an underage family member were found on his phone, though investigators have not confirmed a link to the current charges. Earlier reporting indicated that Zolciak and Kroy had confiscated the teen’s phone a year before the videos were discovered.

Zolciak, who shares five children with Kroy, continues to support her son amid the ongoing legal proceedings.
