Ole Miss defeats LSU 32-24 as former coach Lane Kiffin returns to Oxford

Resumen

Ole Miss beat LSU 32-24 on Saturday, marking Lane Kiffin's first return to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium since leaving the program for the Tigers.

Ole Miss rallied to a 32-24 victory over LSU on Saturday night, the first meeting since former Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin departed for the Tigers. The game, played before a record crowd at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, featured quarterback Trinidad Chambliss throwing for 363 yards and three touchdowns, plus a rushing score.

"The whole nation kind of disrespects Ole Miss," Chambliss said, noting comparisons that often favor LSU’s resources.

Ole Miss built a 24-7 halftime lead, and defensive back Jaylon Braxton intercepted LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt on a fourth-and-goal play late in the fourth quarter to seal the win. After the game, Kiffin addressed the media, acknowledging the emotional impact of returning to his former school.

"There's a lot of stuff six years here ... a lot of life-changing experiences and a lot of really good people (who) helped me through some really hard times," Kiffin said.

Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding described the win as satisfying but cautioned that the season is far from over.

"It wasn't our Super Bowl, and we didn't make it out to be our Super Bowl," Golding said.

The victory improves Ole Miss to 3-0 on the season, while LSU falls to 2-1. Both programs now look ahead to upcoming conference matchups.
