Carson Hocevar and Ryan Blaney engage in physical altercation at Bristol Night Race

Résumé

During the Bristol Night Race, Carson Hocevar punched Ryan Blaney after on-track contact, leading to a brief fight that drew reactions from drivers and spectators.

Carson Hocevar and Ryan Blaney were involved in a physical confrontation on pit road after their cars made contact during the closing laps of the Bristol Night Race on Saturday. The incident occurred when Hocevar attempted to pass Blaney for second place, resulting in Blaney moving low to block and the two cars colliding, sending Blaney's car into the wall.

Hocevar responded by throwing two punches at Blaney, which were described as a decisive finishing blow. A second attempt by Blaney to engage Hocevar was halted by crew members from Spire Motorsports who intervened.

"That was the first time I ever hit anybody," Hocevar said, noting that the incident took place at Bristol and expressing that the attention it generated was significant for him.

Team co-owner Jeff Dickerson said he was unaware that Hocevar would react physically, and Hocevar added that the crowd reacted with a mix of cheers and boos.

"I just happened to look up and they were all kind of cheering," Hocevar said, adding that the moment could help promote ticket sales for future events.

Other drivers, including Josh Berry and Bubba Wallace, commented that they were uncertain about the exact cause of the on-track incident but acknowledged the heightened emotions among the competitors.

The altercation follows a recent press conference in which former professional wrestler Ric Flair encouraged drivers to settle disputes without helmets, a statement that was noted by participants but did not directly influence the events on track.

NASCAR has previously fined drivers for on-track fights, and officials have not yet announced any disciplinary action related to this incident.
