Kansas City Woman Charged Federally for Threatening Victim's Family During Murder Trial

Resumen

A 34-year-old Missouri woman was indicted on federal charges for sending threatening messages to the family of Austin Metcalf during the Karmelo Anthony murder trial.

Federal prosecutors have indicted Sharifa Nicole Henderson, a 34-year-old resident of Kansas City, Missouri, on charges of making interstate threatening communications. Henderson was arrested on September 11 and appeared before a court in the Western District of Texas.

According to court filings, Henderson sent multiple Facebook messages to members of the Metcalf family in June 2026, while the murder trial of Karmelo Anthony was ongoing. The messages included statements that she would "demolish" the family and threatened to "strangle" a relative, adding, "I will hunt you forever until I kill you… I will be there. You will always have to look over your [expletive] shoulder."

Prosecutors note that Henderson has a prior record that includes disorderly conduct, theft, trespassing and resisting arrest. If convicted, she faces up to five years in prison for each count.

"There are just people out there that obviously, I don’t know, don’t have a soul, or can’t comprehend a father’s loss of a son who was murdered," a spokesperson for the Metcalf family said.

Jeff Metcalf, the victim’s father, told reporters that his family has received more than 100 threats since the conclusion of the trial. He added that the ongoing harassment takes a toll but expressed reliance on his faith.

The murder case stems from a stabbing at a high-school track meet in Frisco on April 2, 2025, in which Anthony, then a Centennial High School student, was convicted of killing 17-year-old Austin Metcalf and sentenced to 35 years in prison. A Collin County judge recently denied Anthony’s request for a new trial after his defense raised concerns about prior agreements and alleged limited public access to proceedings.
