Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce said his wife, pop star Taylor Swift, has become proficient in recognizing football penalties and other game details. Kelce shared the observation on the September 18 episode of the "New Heights" podcast, recalling that Swift once asked basic questions about the physical nature of the sport. He said her understanding has progressed to the point where she can call out infractions such as defensive holds and encroachments during live games.
Kelce added that Swift’s interest in football has deepened since the couple began dating in 2023, noting that she now follows the sport closely and engages with the minutiae of each play. He compared her approach to the way she handles creative projects, saying she immerses herself in the details of both music videos and football.
Actor Tom Cruise, a guest on the podcast, mentioned watching a Chiefs game with Swift from a private box and observed that she was able to explain the plays as they unfolded. Kelce’s brother, former NFL player Jason Kelke, also commented on Swift’s enthusiasm for the game.
