Georgia prosecutors request forensic interviews of minors in KJ Biermann case

Resumen

Prosecutors have filed an emergency motion to order forensic interviews of minor children in the ongoing sodomy and sexual battery case involving KJ Biermann, the son of reality-TV star Kim Zolciak.

Prosecutors in Fulton County have asked a judge to order forensic interviews of minor children as part of the investigation into Kroy "KJ" Biermann Jr., who faces multiple felony charges including aggravated sodomy and sexual battery. The motion, filed Thursday, seeks to obtain neutral, developmentally appropriate statements from any children who may have witnessed or experienced the alleged incidents, according to the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy.

Biermann, 15, has been held at the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center since his arrest in August. He was indicted earlier this month on charges of aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, aggravated sexual battery, false imprisonment and additional counts of aggravated sexual battery involving a victim under 16.

The teen was granted bond last week, but his release conditions have not been disclosed. If released, he will be subject to electronic monitoring, prohibited from contacting the alleged victim or anyone under 16, required to remain at his mother’s home, attend school virtually, and barred from social media and cellphone use.

During a September hearing, Deputy District Attorney Caitlin McGillicuddy indicated that investigators had previously found videos on Biermann’s phone showing sexual activity with a younger family member and alleged use of derogatory language. The prosecutor’s statements referenced a prior juvenile matter from 2023.

"The matter arose from inappropriate, crude behavior involving two middle-schoolers. It did not result in an adjudication for statutory rape, sexual intercourse, or any comparable offense," said Biermann’s attorney Jason Sheffield, adding that his client plans to plead not guilty at the arraignment scheduled for Oct. 14.

Both Biermann’s legal team and a representative for Kim Zolciak declined to comment on the latest filing.
