Kim Zolciak sought court review of eldest son's phone during 2025 divorce proceedings
Court filings reveal Kim Zolciak filed an emergency motion in February 2025 to have a judge examine her son KJ Biermann's cellphone after Kroy Biermann allegedly restricted her access to the children and their devices.
During their February 2025 divorce, Kim Zolciak filed an emergency hearing motion in Fulton County, alleging that Kroy Biermann had taken possession of their children's phones and limited her parenting time. The filing requested an in-camera (private) judicial review of their eldest son KJ Biermann's cellular telephone and the data it contained, citing concerns for the children's safety and the preservation of potential evidence.
The motion claimed Biermann "unilaterally directed Mother that she would no longer have parenting time with any of the children" and that he "took possession of the children's phones" and blocked communication. After the couple moved their divorce case to Cobb County, the documents related to the phone review were sealed, and no public record disclosed the judge's findings.
The issue resurfaced after KJ, 15, was arrested in August on seven felony charges. Prosecutors said investigators found videos on his phone that allegedly involved an underage family member. KJ's attorney, Jason Sheffield, denied the allegations, stating his client is presumed innocent. Zolciak described the accusations as "reckless and deeply troubling."
KJ was released on a $200,000 bond with conditions that include staying at his mother's home, virtual schooling, electronic monitoring and a prohibition on cellphone use. Sheffield noted that the earlier dispute involved "inappropriate, crude behavior involving two middle-schoolers" but did not result in a conviction for statutory rape or a comparable offense.
