YouTube educator Ms Rachel pledges to match Macklemore's $1 million Palestine aid donation

摘要

YouTube personality Ms Rachel said she will match rapper Macklemore's $1 million contribution to Palestinian relief groups and urged other wealthy public figures to do the same.

YouTube children’s entertainer Ms Rachel, whose real name is Rachel Accurso, announced on Instagram that she will match rapper Macklemore’s $1 million pledge to organizations assisting Palestinians. The matching donation will be directed to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.

Accurso, who reaches more than 21 million subscribers, wrote that over 20,000 Palestinian children have been killed and said “we have a moral obligation to use our privilege and platforms to protect children and human rights.” She called on “every wealthy white celebrity” to match the contribution.

Macklemore, who was removed from Ed Sheeran’s tour after shouting “Free Palestine” at a New Jersey concert, said he would donate all earnings from the tour to several Palestinian-focused charities. He later addressed criticism, stating, “Criticism of Israel, criticism of apartheid, being against genocide in no way is a criticism of you. My message is for peace, love; for all human beings to be treated with dignity, respect and equality.”

Sheeran posted that he holds personal views on the conflict but chooses not to speak publicly, adding that his silence does not mean a lack of concern. Stadium owners, including New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, confirmed they are each contributing $2 million to Palestinian relief, though the specific beneficiaries were not disclosed.

Several supporting acts have left the tour in solidarity with Macklemore.
