Julia Stiles Responds to Andy Cohen's Past Critique on 'Dancing With the Stars'

Résumé

Actress Julia Stiles referenced Andy Cohen's earlier comment about her dancing during her debut on 'Dancing With the Stars,' prompting a brief on-air apology from the Bravo host.

Julia Stiles made her first appearance on "Dancing With the Stars" on Wednesday, performing a quickstep with professional partner Ezra Sosa. In a rehearsal clip, Stiles recalled a remark made by Bravo host Andy Cohen on his radio show last year, in which he said, "Can we all just agree that Julia Stiles is not the greatest dancer on the planet?" The comment referred to Stiles' hip-hop and ballet sequence in the 2001 film "Save the Last Dance."

During the live broadcast, Stiles asked Sosa if he knew Cohen, to which he replied, "Yes, that diva." She explained that the criticism had stayed with her and that her film dance scene had involved a body double. Stiles said she intends to use the remark as motivation in the competition.

Later that evening on "Watch What Happens Live," Cohen addressed the exchange, calling himself "Jackhole of the day" and offering an apology. He said, "I am so sorry. I am the last person who should be giving anyone feedback on their dancing," and added, "Great job, Julia Stiles. You killed it tonight. You did amazing tonight, and I know you’re gonna have a great run."

Fellow contestant Derek Hough also reacted on the show, urging Cohen to "eat it." Stiles remains in contention for the Mirrorball trophy as the competition continues.
