The Powerball jackpot has climbed to an estimated $1.4 billion following 40 consecutive drawings without a grand prize winner. This marks the sixth-largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history.
The winning numbers drawn on Wednesday were 3, 16, 29, 61, and 69, with the Powerball number 22. As of late Wednesday night, it was not confirmed if any ticket matched all six numbers.
The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. The $1.4 billion prize is for a winner who opts for an annuity, receiving 30 payments over 29 years. Most winners choose the cash option, which for this drawing would be approximately $634.3 million.
Powerball tickets cost $2 and are available in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are held three times a week.
