Ninth woman's body discovered in Gauteng amid ongoing investigation

Resumen

Police have found a ninth female victim in Dawn Park, Gauteng, and say they are investigating possible links between the deaths while offering a reward for information.

Police in South Africa have recovered the body of a woman in her thirties, half-clothed and wrapped in a sheet, on a road in Dawn Park, Gauteng. The victim, whose identity has not been released, showed signs of bruising and stab wounds, according to local media.

The discovery marks the ninth female death recorded in the Ekurhuleni region since July, with previous victims found in Kempton Park, Olifantsfontein, Clayville and KwaThema. Authorities have not confirmed whether the cases are connected or if a single perpetrator is responsible.

A multidisciplinary team of detectives, intelligence officers and forensic experts has been assembled to examine the cases and assess any possible links. Police also said they are pursuing a person of interest, though details were not disclosed.

President Cyril Ramaphosa pledged that “no stone will be left unturned” in the investigation, while Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi warned that authorities have the capacity to address the killings.

The police have announced a reward of 400,000 rand for information leading to arrests and have urged families of missing women to assist in identifying the remaining victims.
