Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen charged with enhanced DUI after breath test shows 0.224 BAC
Keenan Allen faces an enhanced misdemeanor DUI charge in Indiana after a breath test recorded a blood-alcohol level of 0.224 percent, well above the state legal limit.
Indiana prosecutors have charged Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen with an enhanced misdemeanor DUI after a breath test taken following his arrest last month showed a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.224 percent, according to a report cited by ESPN. The level is well above the state legal limit of 0.08 percent and exceeds the 0.15 percent threshold that triggers enhanced penalties.
Allen also provided a blood sample, but the results have not yet been released. Under the NFL’s substance-abuse policy, a BAC of 0.15 percent or higher can lead to increased discipline, including suspensions longer than the standard three-game penalty for a first-offense DUI.
The policy states that the commissioner may impose harsher sanctions if aggravating circumstances are found, such as extreme intoxication, property damage, or prior alcohol-related misconduct. The timeline for any league action remains unclear, and Allen could potentially complete the current season without NFL discipline. If he retires after the 2026 season, he would avoid any future league sanctions related to this incident.
